Idea Fund Grantee Reception


I did a poor job getting the word out beforehand, but last night was the 2012 Idea Fund grantee reception at the Eldorado Ballroom in Houston. I drove 4.5 hours there and 4.5 back to make the 7:00 pm reception and am therefore a bit frazzled today. However, I offer this grainy photo, courtesy of @diverseworks, as proof that Scott and I were in fact there. Once again, Las Manos Negras is extremely grateful for the grant, and we look forward to executing the project this spring and summer. Hopefully it will draw some attention to the issue of wage theft and lead to enforcement of existing laws.

Most of the other grantees were in attendance, and while all of the projects seem fascinating I was particularly struck by Pastelgram's magazine as artwork cum archive project as well as Christina Sukhgian Houle's Migration Patterns During Wartime trilogy:
